Our Story

Supporting the Local Community

Excellent
Went for a birthday breakfast.
I have to say staff were extremely friendly, & welcoming.
Prices, I feel, are very expensive. More like restaurant prices, but at the end of the day, you're in a draughty barn, not a cosy restaurant.
Toilets are pretty basic, cobwebs, grime etc.
Lovely farm shop with tasty food. The menu offers something for most tastes and a huge range of cakes. The cakes looked delicious but on this occasion we didn’t try any. Staff are friendly and welcoming. You can sit inside or outside which has a nice space for children.
Lunch with wife sat outside in sunshine. Ordered cheeseburger and Mac and cheese. Although both of us were happy with the service and quality of food we would only rate the experience as OK.

Cheeseburger - although good quality was small and served with chips only. I was unimpressed as was expecting to also receive a small salad garnish and/or portion of coleslaw.

Mac & cheese - although tasty, portion was extremely small and appeared to have been microwaved rather than oven baked i.e. cheese had not been browned on top.

Bearing in mind the above we thought both meals were somewhat overpriced.

It was nice seeing a variety of animals that all appeared to be in good condition, however their shelter and field looked rather run down.

We have visited other farm shops nearby that we believe offer better value for money.

The Birth of our Business

The idea for our farm shop grew out of a torrid time. When the Covid 19 pandemic hit in 2020 and everyone was locked down at home we began to assist local villagers by supplying them with deliveries of fresh vegetables and eggs – and later bread and other items.

It became apparent that there was a need for a local shop stocking essentials and fresh produce, so the idea for Burton Farm Shop was born.

Run by Angela and Daniel Clark and supported by their wonderful committed team of staff members the farm shop and kitchen has quickly hit the ground running. We installed shipping containers on the farm, smartly decorated inside and covered in rustic wood cladding, to serve as a new and welcome venue for the village.

Home Cooked Fresh Food and Fantastic Cakes

Since our opening in August 2021 both the shop and kitchen have flourished. The village has taken us into its heart, with locals popping in regularly, particularly enjoying our regular Supper Clubs.

Word has spread further afield too, and we’ve found ourselves becoming quite an attraction for day-trippers and family outings.

The big drawcard is definitely our home-cooked fresh food (also available as take-aways), fantastic cakes and our highly rated seasonal afternoon teas which have had rave reviews!

We are committed to supporting local farmers, growers and makers. As much of the stock in the farm shop as possible is sourced locally, as is the food we prepare in the kitchen.

Our own working farm produces beef, wheat, barley and grass. We grow some vegetables, which in time we will be increasing on the farm. We have  friendly donkeys, alpacas, sheep and goats housed in a paddock next to the Farm Shop, who enjoy the company of guests dining outside when weather permits.

Fine Food & Good Company

We’re not resting on our laurels. We regard what we have achieved to date with Burton Farm Shop and Kitchen as just “Phase 1” on our journey to creating a village hub and destination inspired by community and sustainability.

Our shop already stocks vegetables, flowers, gifts, jams and curds, preserves, artisan cheese, biscuits, pre-packed local meat, a selection of homemade pasties and sausage rolls, but we want to increase this range soon to include a fully-fledged butchery and delicatessen.

We also have plans to increase the scope of our café, especially with special events, without spoiling the rustic charm and informal atmosphere we have created, where everyone enjoys our fine food and good company.

Why not pay us a visit in Burton? From the A350 at Chippenham take the route towards Bristol on the B4039, which goes right past us. The postcode is SN14 7LU. We look forward to meeting you.
